Job hunt 2022

I do want to post it to all those ladies/mothers who have given up on their careers due to other priorities in life.

It could be raising kids, supporting spouse career, not able to balance between work n home, being always in guilt not having enough time for family, or just being fed up with the current employer. The reason could be any.

The journey started somewhere in April,2022. After 3.5 years of unemployment, I updated my resume and started applying for jobs. I was so excited, full of enthusiasm and dedication, I felt I would be back in form in just few days. I didn’t know I have to go through a lot of experiences before finally writing this post. Yes, today is the first day of my career.

After working tirelessly for more than 13 years, and travelling like 3-4 hours in a day, raising two small kids, juggling between birthdays, school homework, work meets, evening calls and not so good appraisals later…life threw a chance to take a small break. As I felt that now my family is financially stable and I could take a break . I enjoyed my first year of unemployment, spent time with my kids, had relaxed vacations, had relaxed weekends, no more Monday blues. All in all, I felt like this is the life I always wanted as it was so refreshing, and I was happy. Then reality hit me,  I became a full time wife, mother, daughter…handling all the duties of a housewives. During this process, I lost my identity, self -respect, I lost my confidence, decision making skills ,  financially dependent on my spouse. The feeling of self – worthlessness started crumbling in and I started losing interest in day to day task. The only thing I was getting better at was cooking. Now, I can make round chapatis and couple of cuisines.

I decided, I would make a come back with a toddler in my arms. Here, my journey begun with uncertainty, career gap, age factor, technology gap, self-doubt. The only factor that kept me going was my determination. My CV was rejected millions times , I didn’t get any calls, I failed terribly in interviews, didn’t sleep, sometimes neglected my duties as a mother, felt embarrassed when questions being asked what I was doing for last 4 years?? It pinched.

I have to get up every time I fall with a hope that something better might have been stored for me. This hope kept me going/alive. I applied , applied and applied …..n then my application started turning into calls and calls into interviews and failed interviews into clearing rounds and clearing rounds into job offers. Its not the end of my misery… when I finally started clearing interviews, my visa was not sufficient enough for many companies to give me permanent role. That really broke me as it was something I couldn’t do anything about. And finally, out of nowhere a miracle happened when I least expected. Yes, I am thankful for that divine power who was always there for me throughout my journey. I got my start, my dream job, my first break.
